After two trail runs, one with a normal two flask load out and one with a full flask + reservoir load out, I'm pretty impressed with how it handles. My first run in it was 4+ hours and I was comfortable the whole time and had no chafing. It still bounces but very differently than a traditional vest and not it a bad way. Everything rides up a little higher so the bounce feels less pronounced. I also like that the fit gives your torso more ventilation which is great for sweaty people like me. Once worn, everything sticks closely to your body and it's very light so it's not very noticeable if lightly loaded.

My only concern is that things can fall out of the front pockets if you take off the vest to re-fill your reservoir. A zippered pocket would be nice to stuff you can't afford to lose. Also, I have had to size-up despite measuring for a smaller size because my man-pecs were being squeezed out the sides. Neither comfortable nor flattering.

The HCRV lived up to expectations - Stuff really does not bounce. Carried: 4 500ml water bottles, 12 gels, 9 Lucho Dillitos Guava blocks, headlamp, spare windbreaker, GoPro, headphones, iPhone, small towel. Didn’t impede the run at all. Fit is true to size, only slight criticism is reaching stuff in back of pack without removing it. I especially love the pole carrying method - seems the least intrusive of any vest I’ve tried. Build quality is good, all in all I’d highly recommended the hcrv - the looks might put some folk off but if you can overcome that it’s the best running vest on the market imo.

  • Definitely the best vest I got so far

The HC vest is definitely the best vest I got so far out of 9 I've owned over the last 5 years. I was really impressed with no bounce holding 4 bottles, large pockets and ease in putting a jacket in and out of the back pocket. It has a design and quality of materials that beat the Salomon ADV Skin 5L that is older but still the top vest at Salomon and that used to be my favorite one. I also like the loops in the front for my Z poles, which is a feature I liked with the Raidlight. The zip in the front is so much easier than all the other brands to take off the vest. Finally the 2 smaller pockets in the front help with quick access of smaller items (gels, blocks, extra buff,...). It's the best technology so you can forget about little problems and enjoy your runs.
